Nathan Radcliffe, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist who is an experienced glaucoma and cataract surgeon. Prior to June of 2014, Dr. Radcliffe served as the Director of the Glaucoma Service at Weill Cornell Medical College for six years. Dr. Radcliffe manages the most challenging cataract and glaucoma cases referred from all over the world, has published over 40 peer reviewed publications in glaucoma research, has given hundreds lectures on glaucoma and cataract to thousands of ophthalmologists in 40 states and over a dozen countries, and won awards for his surgical videos and teaching. The Ophthalmologist magazine named Dr. Radcliffe one of the world's top ophthalmologists under the age of 40 in May of 2015.

Dr. Radcliffe serves on the Skills Transfers Advisory Committee for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, is the Chair of the Multimedia Committee for the American Glaucoma Society and serves on the Glaucoma Clinical Committee for the Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Radcliffe graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from Temple University School of Medicine and then was transitional resident of the year at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu. He was chief resident at New York University for his ophthalmology residency and was chief glaucoma fellow at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.

7:00 pm 2nd Lecture - The Death of the Eye Drop

1st Lecture – Unmet need: Supraciliary surgery is new and most surgeons have not been exposed to it or trained to do it.

Following the 1st lecture, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe current FDA approved techniques for stenting the supraciliary space
  2. Review data from a prospective, controlled 2-year study on supraciliary glaucoma surgery
  3. Explore tips and techniques for the surgery

2nd Lecture - Unmet Need: Eye drops don’t work as well as we would like and patients (generally speaking) have trouble taking them, affording them, and tolerating them. Following the 2nd lecture, participants will be able to:

  1. Review the data regarding various failures of eye drops for glaucoma
  2. Identify current sustained delivery options, including a review of formulations in development
  3. Explore how laser fits into this paradigm
  4. Describe aspects of how a practice that is free of glaucoma drops might function
